About
Hi, I'm Sara.
Welcome to my creative world, where art has been the guiding force throughout my life. From a budding passion in my early years to a thriving professional career, I've wholeheartedly embraced the ever-evolving canvas of artistic expression.
My professional journey began with the completion of my Associate of Science in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Science in Communication & Information Design. After graduating, I initially found my artistic home in the realm of graphic design.Working as a freelance graphic designer, I had the privilege of collaborating with local companies, artists, and organizations to create captivating visual narratives.
Yet, like many artists, I couldn't suppress the yearning for more tactile forms of artistic expression. The allure of hands-on creativity led me back to my lifelong love of ceramics. Crafting functional pieces that seamlessly blended form and function became my passion. These creations soon found a place with esteemed retailers, including Anthropologie's garden brand, Terrain, and with Laurel Mercantile, renowned for their presence on HGTV's Home Town. This phase of my journey marked a significant turning point, as my art found its way into the homes and hearts of a broader audience, bridging the gap between art and everyday life.
In 2020, a long-held dream materialized as I opened the doors to my own brick-and-mortar haven, Ritual Clay Company. Driven by a deep-rooted mission to create a sanctuary for those seeking everyday moments of peace and joy, my shop became a space where art met everyday life. It was a place where you could explore a curated collection of my pottery, prints, apothecary goods and mixed media creations, set within a rich community backdrop.
However, the journey is never stagnant and the 3 years following the birth of Ritual Clay Co were anything but expected.
In 2021, life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and Psoriatic Arthritis (PSA), both closely linked to my rare genetic marker HLA-B27. Since then, I've gained valuable insights into what my body and mind require to continue along this creative path. While these diagnoses don't define me, and their impact on my daily life fluctuates, navigating them in a world not always accommodating to rest, chronic illness, and self-care has undoubtedly shaped my life, perspective, and art.
At present, I find myself embracing a slower, more deliberate style of living. As my journey continues to unfold, I can’t wait to share more of my creations with you, as well as the opportunity to connect through the beauty of art and the joy it brings to our lives.
Thank you for coming along for the ride.
